Aromatherapy Recipe – Bugs
“Bug-a-Boo” Lavender (for adults)
I use this essential oil recipe instead of commercial preparations to repel insects when I’m working in my garden near Asheville, NC. I find it helps keep mosquitos away. You should be aware that essential oils are not effective in repelling all types of insects, and do not work for every person. So, if you are in areas where transmission of disease through bug bites is an issue, it is advisable to use stronger protective measures than this aromatherapy recipe – bugs.
Ingredients
- Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) – 10 drops
- Geranium (Pelargonium graveolens) – 3 drops
- Eucalyptus – 1 drop
Instructions
Use a pipette to blend the essential oils together, and mix with one ounce of vegetable oil. Shake well, and apply to arms, back of neck, feet and other exposed areas of skin. Do not apply to face.
