Can Essential Oil Help with Anxiety?

Three Oils for Anxiety really stand out. There are many essential oils that could be used for dealing with anxiety, but it is clearly worth taking a closer look at these 3 exceptionally relaxing and soothing essential oils, some of which you may not be familiar with. Individually each of these Artisan Aromatics oils, Cypress, Lavender and Neroli, work well as natural remedies for anxiety but combined, they become an even more powerful trio of oils, working synergistically to create feelings of peace and calm.

Our Artisan Aromatics’ clinical aromatherapist has blended these three very special essential oils for anxiety in just the right proportions to create our Easy Going Oil Blend. Blended together, the anti-anxiety properties of each of these three essential oils is greatly amplified as they synergistically work together.

Anxiety Oil #1 – Cypress Essential Oil

Cypress Essential Oil has long been a favorite for many issues related to mental and emotional support: Anxiety, stress, nervous and chronic tension, hyper-excitability, adrenal fatigue/neurasthenia, treatment-resistant chronic pain, eating disorders, repressed emotions, difficulty adjusting to change, pessimism and self-doubt.

Our Cypress Essential Oil is Wildcrafted in beautiful Crete, steam distilled from the tree’s fresh or dried twigs and needles. This pale yellow to olive oil has a sweet, woody, smoky aroma with strong mid to base notes. The fragrance of cypress oil blends well with cardamom, cedarwood, clary sage, lavender, orange, pine, rosemary, and sandalwood essential oils.

Cypress Essential Oil has properties that include antibacterial, antirheumatic, antispasmodic (especially respiratory), antitussive, astringent, calming, deodorant, neurotonic, phlebotonic, and has a hormone-like action similar to estrogen.

Anxiety Oil #2 – Lavender Essential Oil

Lavender Essential Oil – Organic Lavender Provence Essential Oil, Lavandula angustifolia, is the best quality with high linalool content with wonderful aroma. Here at Artisan Aromatics, we offer six different Lavender Oils but, this Organic Lavender Essential Oil is undoubtedly the absolute best of the best.

Organic Lavender Provence Essential Oil can balance the body and mind, calm or stimulate according to your body’s needs and is excellent for refreshing tired muscles, feet, and head. Add a drop to the pillow/sheet before going to bed and achieve peaceful sleep. Organic Lavender Provence is the best Lavender of any that I have encountered, and the aroma of this essential oil is gentle, soothing and relaxing. In addition to our Lavender Provence, we offer 5 other Lavender Oils – all with similar but subtly different aromas. All 6 Lavenders are available singly or all together in our Lavender Oil Collection.

Anxiety Oil #3 – Neroli Essential Oil aka Orange Blossom Oil

Neroli Essential Oil is steam distilled from the flowering blossoms of the orange trees, Citrus aurantium, which have a beautiful aroma. The aroma of Neroli Essential Oil is intensely floral, sweet, and exotic. Orange blossom essential oil blends well with many other essential oils. Although Neroli is more expensive than the average essential oil, it is highly concentrated, so a little goes a long way and he complexity of the aroma is often appreciated in low dilutions.

Neroli Essential Oil is intensely floral, sweet and exotic. Orange blossom essential oil blends well with many other essential oils. Neroli oil has a sweet, floral and slightly citrusy aroma, the color is pale yellow and the viscosity is relatively thin.

Uses of our Orange Blossom Essential Oil may include:

  • depression
  • anxiety
  • calming
  • soothing
  • relaxin
  • smoothing mature skin
  • healing scars
  • dealing with stress
  • restoring feelings of well being

The Aroma of Orange Blossoms:

Like Lavender, Neroli essential oil is very popular, not only has great therapeutic properties, but also has the most incredible smell. The oil has a gentle and relaxing effect on the body and mind, relieving muscle spasms, calming heart palpitations and has a wonderful rejuvenating and regenerative effect on the skin and more.

A study in the journal Biomedical Research International (2014) found aromatherapy was effective in reducing levels of depression, anxiety, and stress in a four-week aromatherapy program for older persons with chronic pain. One small study that needs to be replicated is not proof that aromatherapy will work for everyone but quite a body of research is accumulating to support the effectiveness of aromatherapy. Regular use of essential oils may offer calming and soothing feelings and help you feel less anxious.

This synergist blend of calming and soothing essential oils is also available from Artisan Aromatics as Easy Going Massage Oil, as an Aromatherapy Inhaler, and as Aromatherapy Roll-On.

Many essential oils have multiple uses. You will find one of these three essential oils for anxiety, Neroli, aka Orange Blossom, to be a key ingredient in our Solar Plexus Chakra Oil.
