Frangipani Enfleurage, Organic Limited Edition
Frangipani Enfleurage is also know as Plumeria or Frangipani Essential Oil, Enfleurage, and Frangipani Organic Enfleurage
Our Frangipani Enfleurage, Organic Limited Edition is very, very rare – produced for us by hand on a small farm in South America. While our regular Organic Frangipani Enfleurage Oil, extracted with sustainably harvested palm oil, is very beautiful, a faint earthy note of palm oil is initially detected. In this Limited Edition selection, the essential oils are extracted with organic coconut oil so in this version the earthy note imparted by the palm oil is absent and the aroma is closest to the flower’s fragrance in nature. In addition, more frangipani flowers are used for this Limited Edition extraction and we feel the results are very special.
Frangipani is an amazing flower with an enchanting history so please take the time to read a bit about it in the product description for our regular Frangipani Enfleurage Oil .
We sell this Limited Edition Enfleurage only in smaller sizes, 1/2 & 5/8 dram bottles. Due to the limited supply of this precious Enfleurage oil, all sales are final so you may also sample all 5 of our regular Enfleurage Oils in a sample pack first.
USEAGE AND SAFETY INFORMATION
We recommend our Limited Edition Frangipani Enfleurage Oil for professional perfumery applications. Because the technique of enfleurage has only recently been revived, safety information on these products is not widely available for many of the specific species now being extracted. Enfleurage oils are most frequently used by professional perfumers who have training in how to dilute absolutes for perfume making in order to avoid skin irritation. Frangipani absolute produced by solvent extraction has been used at an average concentration of 1.3% in commercial perfumes and body care products. Until more safety information is available for Limited Edition Frangipani Enfleurage Oil, we recommend a maximum concentration of 1% for using this product on the skin; this concentration can be achieved by adding 9 drops of Frangipani Enfleurage Oil to one ounce of vegetable oil (such as grapeseed oil). For making a roll-on perfume, add 3 drops of Frangipani Enfleurage Oil to 10 ml (2 teaspoons) of vegetable oil ( we like to use jojoba as the vegetable oil for roll-on perfumes); this will give you enough to fill a standard 10 ml roller bottle; the scent will be subtle but lovely. Avoid excessive use (topical or inhalation) of Limited Edition Frangipani Enfleurage Oil. Until more extensive safety information is available, we recommend avoiding use of Limited Edition Frangipani Enfleurage Oil throughout pregnancy and when nursing.
Absolutes produced by any method, including enfleurage, may be harmful if swallowed; do not use internally.

Our Organic Limited Edition Frangipani Enfleurage Oil is pure undiluted Frangipani Oil extracted using a very old, all-natural technique known as Enfleurage. Since the essential oil of the Frangipani flower cannot be extracted by distillation or pressing, most Frangipani Oil available today is extracted by harsh solvents in a chemical process that produces a product called an “absolute” (Frangipani Absolute). Although our Frangipani Oil is sometimes referred to as an absolute because it is not extracted by steam distillation, it is more correctly called a Frangipani Enfleurage. It is most rare, coming from a small grower/extractor in South America who uses only local organic coconut oil and organic sugar cane alcohol to produce a true Frangipani Enfleurage essential oil.
The entire process of extracting the Limited Edition Organic Frangipani Enfleurage is done by hand using no heat and no harsh chemical solvents. Pure local organic Coconut Oil is used to extract the aromatic oils from the frangipani flower petals by absorption. Once the Coconut oil is completely saturated with the essence of the Frangipani flower, it is separated from the Frangipani Oil by cane sugar alcohol which is then evaporated to leave only the Frangipani Oil. The process for producing our Frangipani Enfleurage is quite labor intensive and requires many pounds of Frangipani flower petals per mL of oil, but the results are astounding. Most would find it difficult to differentiate the aroma of the oil from that of the actual flower.
Enfleurage was the traditional method of extraction used in the 18th and 19th centuries and into the early 20th century. Solvent extraction using hexane has now virtually replaced the enfleurage method except for our own Frangipani Enfleurage. Solvent (hexane) extracted Frangipani Absolute is used extensively by the perfume industry. Only organic Coconut Oil and organic can sugar alcohol are used to produce our Organic Limited Edition Frangipani Enfleurage and there is no hexane at all in this product. Both methods (enfleurage and solvent extraction) are time consuming, and the oil yields are quite small for the amount of materials used.

Note that there is no hint of palm oil aroma in this special Limited Edition of Organic Fragipani Enfleurage.
Natural Frangipani perfume is often enjoyed as a single-flower oil since the rich, warm, heady floral aroma produced from the flowers is considered osmically balanced (like Carnation and Lavender), which means that their floral compounds are perfectly balanced, containing a top, middle, and base note.
