Clove Leaf Essential Oil
Description: Clove Leaf Essential Oil (Eugenia caryophylatta) from Madagascar is Therapeutic Quality Essential Oil steam distilled from the leaves.
Clove leaves come from an evergreen tree growing up to twelve feet in height. It is believed to have originate in Indonesia. All Clove Oils are a bit harsh and need extra dilution. Clove leaf oil less harsh than clove bud oil. The recommended dilution rate for clove leave essential oil is 0.5% to 0.6% while dilution rate from the harsher clove bud essential oil is 0.1% to 0.2% depending on source. Note that the recommended dilution rate for most essential oils is 2.5%.
Uses: Clove Bud Oil is a natural analgaesic and antiseptic used primarily in dentistry for its main ingredient eugenol. Clove Leaf Essential Oil contains less eugenol than clove bud essential oil and generally has less eugenyl acetate, and minor constituents.
