Cypress Essential Oil
Cypress Essential Oil (Cupressus sempervirens) from Crete is Wildcrafted Therapeutic Quality Essential Oil steam distilled from the leaves and twigs.
Description
Cypress is an adaptable, long-lived evergreen native to the Eastern Mediterranean. Now widely naturalized over European, Eastern European, and North African regions, it is also grown commercially in New Zealand and Australia both as an attractive ornamental and for its scented, durable wood.
Our Therapeutic Quality Cypress Essential Oil is Wildcrafted in beautiful Crete, steam distilled from the tree’s fresh or dried twigs and needles. This pale yellow to olive oil has a sweet, woody, smoky aroma with strong mid to base notes. The fragrance of cypress oil blends well with cedarwood, clary sage, lavender, orange, pine, rosemary, and sandalwood essential oils.
Uses
Cypress Essential Oil has properties that include antibacterial, antirheumatic, antispasmodic (especially respiratory), antitussive, astringent, calming, deodorant, neurotonic, phlebotonic, and has a hormone-like action similar to estrogen.
In both Western and Eastern traditions, it has been used for oily skin, excessive perspiration and sweaty feet, swelling of the hands and feet, rashes, bruises, hemorrhoids, and as a spray or ointment for varicose veins. Musculoskeletal uses include muscle cramps and rheumatism. It has also been used for respiratory issues such as asthma (by properly trained medical professionals only) and bronchitis. For coughs, a good blend is Cypress with Thyme and Lavender Essential Oils.
Cypress Essential Oil has long been a favorite for many issues related to mental and emotional support: anxiety, stress, nervous and chronic tension, hyper-excitability, adrenal fatigue/neurasthenia, treatment-resistant chronic pain, eating disorders, repressed emotions, difficulty adjusting to change, pessimism, self-doubt, and for hospice/dying.
