Description

Lavender Essential Oil Population France

Description: Our French Lavender Essential Oil France (Lavandula angustifolia) also called Lavender Population is distilled from conventionally cultivated French-grown lavender and is quite a find, in my opinion, with a clean fresh aroma that’s a little lighter than our Bulgarian Lavender. Lavender is the most versatile of essential oils. Like our other Lavender essential oils, I find it relaxing and calming and I also like to use it in a bath or massage oil when I have sore muscles from over-exertion. This is a classic French lavender, Lavender Population, at a reasonable price. While it is not quite as high in esters as our High Alpine and Lavender Provence selections, it is still a very good choice.

History: Lavender has a long history of use; the name coming from the latin word “lavere”, which means “to wash”, because the Romans added Lavender to their bath water. It is the essential oil made famous by Rene-Maurice Gattefosse, who, upon burning his hand in a laboratory accident, plunged it into a container of lavender oil and immediately experienced relief from the pain. He was also intrigued to find that the burn healed without the usual blistering or scarring, and became interested in the healing power of essential oils. His studies led to the publication of the book Aromatherapie, and also popularized the term aromatherapy for the study of essential oils.

In the aromatherapy literature, Lavender essential oil has been described as having relaxing and calming properties.

Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) is now cultivated all over the world, including France, Russia, Bulgaria, the Himalayas and Croatia. Lavender is the most popular and widely used essential oil.

This is the most beautiful smelling lavender I have ever smelled. My husband loves it too. lavender is so versatile and this is a “must have” in your holistic medicine cabinet. Great for bug bites that seemed to have plagued my family this summer.
