Plai Essential Oil
Plai Essential Oil (Zingiber cassumunar) from Thailand is therapeutic quality essential oil steam distilled from the root.
Plai is a close relative of Ginger and the aroma of plai aroma is similar to Eucalyptus with some extra spicy notes. Plai has a high level of Terpinene-4ol, which is a component of Tea Tree and Sweet Marjoram and usually, has between 25-45% terpinene-4.
Traditionally it has been used for sore muscles and many massage therapists turn to Plai to relax muscles or for tissue wounds that are slow to heal. Try mixing Plai with your favorite carrier oil to craft your own custom massage blend.
Plai (Zingiber cassumunar Roxb.) is a member of the Zingiberaceae family, as is our Artisan Aromatics Ginger essential oil. But unlike Ginger, Plai has been used in traditional Thai massage for years to combat joint and muscle problems and is more intense that using Ginger oil.
It is native to Thailand, Indonesia and India and it is a pale yellow in color, steam distilled from the fresh rhizomes unlike Ginger, which is often distilled from the dried rhizomes. The aroma is fresh, herbaceous and slightly peppery.
