Gardenia Solid Perfume

Gardenia Solid Perfume is also known as Gardenia Body Butter.

Organic Gardenia Solid Perfume is infused with the essential oils and aroma of organic Gardenia flowers from South America. Organic Gardenia Perfume is all Natural & Organic, and is the “pomade” from the middle step of the Enfleurage process. This Solid Perfume has the subtle aroma of our organic Gardenia Essential Oil overlaying the earthy aroma of the organic palm oil. Our Gardenia Solid Perfume not only has a heavenly aroma, but this body balm is also a wonderful emollient for the skin.

Usage

To use Gardenia Solid Perfume, place a dab on a pulse point and massage into skin. The wonderful aroma of Gardenia flowers will last for hours.

Enfleurage

Enfleurage is a technique of extracting the aromatic oils from flowers that goes back thousands of years to the days of the pharaohs in Egypt. It works on the simple principle that fats dissolve essential oils and thereby absorb their aromas. Petals and other fragrant plant parts are soaked in fat or non-evaporating oil which absorbs the fragrance.

In the 19th century and early parts of the 20th, pork, lard and beef fat were used. Now some producers use vegetable fats like palm oil. In the early days, the animal fat was smeared on glass plates in a wooden frame, called a chassis, then the flowers were placed on the fat and left to release their oils for several days. The process was repeated several more times with fresh flowers being added to the plates until the fat on the plates was completely saturated with the aromatic oils of the flowers. The oil saturated fat, called a pomade, was dissolved by alcohol. The aromatic oils migrate to the alcohol which is then separated from the fat, and the alcohol is evaporated to leave the pure aromatic oil of the flower.

The resultant essential oil is called an “absolute” by some or an essential oil by some, and an enfleurage oil by others. Our supplier of absolutes extract by enfleurage uses only Organic Palm Oil and Organic Sugar Cane Alcohol in the extraction process.

Disclaimer: Products containing Raw Coconut Oil will melt at around 76 degrees (this allows it to melt into your skin). If your Gardenia Solid Perfume arrives liquid instead of semi-solid, it likely melted during shipping, but do not worry – let it sit in a cool, dark place overnight and it will re-solidify. It’s a good idea to keep your Gardenia Solid Perfume stored in a cool, dark place to keep it fresh.
