Ginger Essential Oil
Ginger Essential Oil has been described as warming, invigorating, and decongesting. In Chinese Medicine, the herb ginger has been said to have a wide sphere of action that includes stimulating the yang energy of Spleen, Stomach, Heart, Lungs, and Kidneys.
The spice known as ginger comes from a tropical perennial herb growing 2 – 4 feet high with reed-like stems, sword-like leaves, and yellow flowers with purple markings. The stem grows directly from a thick tuberous rhizome, from which both the spice and essential oil are derived. Ginger is native to Southeast Asia yet grows in tropical climates throughout the world.
Ginger has been used for centuries in Asia for food preparation and medical uses. In traditional Chinese medicine, the fresh root is used for colds and chills. The dried root restores the body’s yang energy.
Ginger can enhance concentration and soothe and reduce feelings of stress, sadness, anxiety, lethargy, agitation, dizziness, and fatigue. Used topically, Ginger Essential Oil soothes redness, eliminates bacteria, inhibits the signs of skin damage and aging, and restores color and radiance to a dull complexion.
