Organic Jasmine Enfleurage Pomade
We source this precious Organic Jasmine Enfleurage Pomade from a small farm in upstate New York that uses the ancient process of Enfleurage to yield the most authentic Jasmine oil we’ve found. Enfleurage pomade is the next to last step in creating Jasmine Enfleurage Oil. To create the this wonderful enfleurage pomade, jasmine blossoms are picked by hand and soaked on a base of sustainable harvested organic palm kernel oil until the flowers essential oils are transferred to the base over the space of a few days. Then those flower petals are removed and fresh ones added. This process is repeated over days until the base oil / fat is fully saturated with the oils of the flower petals and the jasmine enfleurage pomade is created. Further information on the process can be found below.
Once the pomade has been made, the pomade can be used “as is” or the pomade can go through one more step that extracts the essential oils from the base / fat. This next step involves adding pure alcohol to the pomade. When the alcohol is added to the pomade, the essential oil molecules migrate from the palm kernel oil to the alcohol. Next the alcohol is evaporated leaving pure essential oils. Jasmine enfleurage oil is just one of our line of Artisan Aromatics Enfleurage Oils.
We also offer one other pomade. If you like our Organic Jasmine Enfleurage Pomade, you’re bound to like our Organic Lilac Enfleurage Pomade too.
As is customary with all Artisan Aromatics essential oils, enfleurage oils, absolutes and blends, our pomades have been carefully selected for their therapeutic qualities. To ensure maximum freshness and potency, we fill the product by hand in the USA upon receipt of each order.
Size Options: Only small sizes of Lilac Pomade are listed on our website but, on occasion, we have more available. Send us an email if you need a larger size.
Jasmine – Method of Oil Extraction
Jasmine does not lend itself to distillation and other methods collect only fractions of the scent and leave behind or destroy certain elements.
Enfleurage is the French term for an ancient, labor intensive, and all-but vanished, technique in which a fat is used to absorb scent from fresh exhaling flowers. Our source grows their own Jasmine flowers and uses only Organically grown and sustainably sourced palm kernel oil for the extraction.
To begin the process, palm kernel oil is spread on glass frames, called chassis. This organic and sustainably sourced palm kernel oil is the fat substrate that will capture the lovely Jasmine scent. Blossoms from more than 150 different varieties of flowers from their farm are hand picked and infused in the palm kernel oil. Every day for 33 days, they painstakingly reload the chassis with fresh jasmine flowers, replacing and discarding the flowers from the day before. The fragrance is intoxicatingly authentic, because the Enfleurage process captures the most delicate components of scent and the most comprehensive spectrum of scent molecules.
Our very special palm kernel oil
For four years I experimented with using several different types of fat for the Enfleurage process. Lard, tallow, coconut oil, Shea, cocoa butter, mango butter, avocado butter.I choose to use palm kernel oil for its beautiful texture and feel on the skin. It is full of phytonutrients, antioxidants, and naturally occurring Vitamin A palmitate. It is the fat that most closely resembles human sebum, and is a potent healer of skin ailments by itself. However when infused with the essence of lilac or jasmine, from the simple exhalations of living flowers, it becomes something truly extraordinary.
Ancient Methods of extracting Jasmine Essential Oil:
Here you can see mounds of flower petals from which individual flowers are selected and then laid on top of the base oil / fat in the framed chassis.

Disclaimer: Pomades will melt at around 76 degrees (this allows it to melt into your skin). If the weather is hot and the body cream arrives liquid instead of semi-solid, it likely melted during shipping, but do not worry – let it sit in a cool, dark place overnight and it will re-solidify. It’s a good idea to keep your Jasmine Enfleurage Pomade stored in a cool, dark place to keep it fresh.
