Neroli Hydrosol aka Neroli Flower Water | Orange Blossom Hydrosol aka Orange Blossom Flower Waer
Neroli Hydrosol / Orange Blossom Hydrosol: Hydrosols are also known as hydroflorates, hydrolats, distillates, floral waters and flower waters, although the term “flower water” has been incorrectly used by some companies to refer to products made by simply adding small amounts of essential oil to ordinary water. These types of so-called “flower waters” are not true hydrosols and do not have the same properties.
Neroli Hydrosol’s actions have been described as calming and grounding. While Neroli Hydrosol is considered to be very hydrating it is also said to have astringent qualities that may be too much for those with dry skin. Our beautiful Neroli hydrosol is distilled in Lebanon from the blossoms of the bitter orange tree (Citrus aurantium var. amara).
True hydrosols are produced during the steam distillation of essential oils. When essential oil has been separated from the water used in the distillation process, small amounts of the oil remain in that water, along with non-volatile constituents that were also extracted. This water that remains after ditillation is a hydrosol. For more information on hydrosols, here’s a link to Wiki: Wiki Hydrosols
While neroli essential oil is intensely floral, sweet and exotic, Neroli hydrosol has a lighter, less sweet, floral aroma with citrus notes. Hydrosol of Neroli is known for its calming and soothing properties and like so many hydrosols, it also makes a refreshing skin toner, although it may be too astringent for those with dry skin.
In order to compare the difference in fragrance, you may wish to try our exquisite Neroli Essential Oil.
Note that Flower Waters / Hydrosols have a shorter shelf life than essential oils, so we always buy in small batches and replenish our stock often. To extend the shelf life of your Neroli Hydrosol, store in a cool dark area or refrigerate. Spritzing a Hydrosol that has been chilled can feel extra refreshing.
Attention: Some companies of rather unsavory reputations sell fake flower water. They just add a few drops of essential oil or even a fragrance oil to water. We always do our best to “Do the Right Thing”. Artisan Aromatics Hydrosols are the real deal!
