Organic Rosemary Hydrosol (Rosemary Flower Water)
Organic Rosemary Hydrosol is often described as energizing and stimulating. Feeling a bit tired? Rosemary Flower Water works well as a room spray for energy and is a wonderful hair, face and body spray. This flower water, like all flower waters is a byproduct of the steam distillation of the plant to produce essential oils.
What are Flower Waters / Hydrosols?:
Rosemary Hydrosol / Rosemary Flower Water: Hydrosols are also known as hydroflorates, hydrolats, distillates, floral waters and flower waters, although the term “flower water” has been incorrectly used by some companies to refer to products made by simply adding small amounts of essential oil to ordinary water. These types of so-called “flower waters” are not true hydrosols and do not have the same properties.
Rosemary Hydrosol’s actions have been described as energizing and stimulating. While Rosemary Hydrosol is considered to be very hydrating it is also said to have astringent qualities that may be too much for those with dry skin. Our beautiful Rosemary hydrosol is distilled in Lebanon from the leaf of organically grown rosemary bushes (Rosmarinus officinalis).
True hydrosols are produced during the steam distillation of essential oils. When essential oil has been separated from the water used in the distillation process, small amounts of the oil remain in that water, along with non-volatile constituents that were also extracted. This water that remains after distillation is a hydrosol.
Note that Flower Waters / Hydrosols have a shorter shelf life than essential oils, so we always buy in small batches and replenish our stock often. To extend the shelf life of your Rosemary Hydrosol, store in a cool dark area or refrigerate. Spritzing a Hydrosol that has been chilled can feel extra refreshing.
Beware: There are companies out there that make fake hydrosols. They just add a few drops of essential oils or even fragrance oil to water. This is not a hydrosol. Ours are 100% pure, created during the essential oil distillation process.
