Sunflower oil (Helianthus annuus | Helianthus annuus, High Oleic – Refined) is extracted from the seeds of the flowering head of the sunflower.
It is an odorless and colorless vegetable seed oil which works very well as a carrier oil, especially for the dilution of essential oils for the purpose of topical application, or as a massage oil for those who are sensitive to even slight odors.
This oils is one of my favorites for cooking since it virtually has no taste and withstands high temperatures without smoking. It is my “go to” oil for sauteing. Sunflower oil will tolerate high heat so I use it to coat my cast iron pan. The I turn the largest burner on high until oil just starts to smoke. Once the pan is smoking, turn down the heat just a touch. Then it’s perfect for searing salted and peppered chick breasts. For the best chicken breasts, put the breast between plastic sheets and pound to an even 1/2″ thickness is achieved then cook 4-5 minutes per side or until fully done.

Do not ingest carrier oils with essential oils blended into them.
