Eucalyptus Radiata Essential Oil
Our therapeutic quality Eucalyptus radiata Essential Oil is cultivated in Australia, where it is steam-distilled from the fresh leaves of the Narrow-Leaved Peppermint tree. Despite the common name of this tree, it is not related to true peppermint (Mintha piperita). This evergreen tree generally reaches 120 feet in height, with gray bark that naturally peels into long strips and creamy-yellow flowers that appear in the heat of the Australian summer.
Eucalyptus radiata was the first type of Eucalyptus to be used for the production of essential oil. The Essential Oil of Eucalyptus radiata is colorless to pale yellow with a sharp, fresh, slightly floral aroma that is “softer” than that of the globulus species. We offer six types of Eucalyptus.

Some batches of Eucalyptus radiata essential oil will contain less 1.8 cineole than some batches of Eucalyptus globulus and for this reason. Eucalyptus radiata essential oil has sometimes been described as “gentler” and safer for children than Eucalyptus globulus essential oil. In reality, the cineole content of the radiata species is still quite high and in some samples may approach those of some samples of Eucalyptus globulus, so there is little reliable difference in the safety of the two species. Tisserand and Young, in their book  Essential Oil Safety, 2nd Edition, classify Eucalyptus radiata as a cineole-rich species and give the same safety recommendations for it as they give for Eucalyptus globulus, including a warning against applying it near the face of any child under the age of ten years.
Both E. radiata and E. globulus have been described by aromatherapists as being helpful for a variety of respiratory conditions and according to Shirley and Len Price (Aromatherapy for Health Professionals, Third Edition), Eucalyptus radiata Essential Oil offers quick penetration and long lasting actions.
