About our Helichrysum (Corsica) Essential Oil
Also known as Everlasting Essential Oil and Immortelle Essential Oil
Helichrysum Essential Oil (Helichrysum italicum) from Corsica is Wildcrafted Therapeutic Quality Essential Oil steam distilled from the flowers of Helichrysum italicum, an evergreen shrub native to rocky areas of the Mediterranean regions of Southern Europe. The helichrysum plant is also known as “curry plant”, due to the sharp, spicy aroma of its leaves. The aromatic flowers bloom during the summer and are famous for retaining their color after picking. This is why yet two other popular names for helichrysum are “immortelle” and “everlasting”.

The Helichrysum Essential Oil extracted from plants grown in Corsica is considered to be the very best of all the Helichrysums for therapeutic purposes, though some do prefer the slightly sharper aroma of the French Helichrysum and our slightly less expensive French Helichrysum is quite good.
The aroma of Helichrysum Essential Oil is complex and most people find it very pleasing. It has been described as intense, sweet and tea-like with notes of fruit and honey. Though expensive, it adds amazing notes to aromatic compositions and blends well with Roman Chamomile, Citrus, Geranium, Lavender, and Clary Sage.
Claims made by aromatherapists for therapeutic properties of Helichrysum Essential Oil have centered on reputed regenerative effects and ability to reduce inflammation and have emphasized its usefulness in skin care applications for these reasons. At the emotional, energetic level it has been said to be of help for those who need to release emotional blockages.
How to Use Helichrysum (Corsica) Essential Oil
Helichrysum Essential Oil is appropriate for both topical use and diffusion and we especially like to include it in blends for skin care applications. For application to the skin, we recommend a maximum concentration of 2.5% of Helichrysum essential oil in a vegetable oil (such as sweet almond oil) or other suitable fatty base.
You can enjoy Helichrysum Essential Oil in a warm bath by adding 3 or 4 drops to a tablespoon of whole milk or cream; add this mixture to the bath water and stir with your foot to disperse before entering the tub. If you want to see if Helichrysum essential oil can help relieve emotional blockages, you can diffuse a few drops into the air using a fan diffuser or, follow our favorite method and put 2 or 3 drops on an aroma locket to wear throughout the day. If you try it with an aroma locket, choose a locket that will not allow the essential oil to touch your skin or clothing: lava stone jewelry is not a good choice because it does not protect you from contact with the essential oil and may lead to skin irritation or staining of your clothing.
Helichrysum Herb and Essential Oil in Traditional Medicines
