Blue Chamomile is an anciently known herb with several scientific names, including Matricaria recutita, Matricaria chamomilla, and Chamomilla recutita. Blue Chamomile is closely related to another type of Chamomile, known as Roman Chamomile (Chamaelmelum nobile); the two have similar, but not identical, properties and notably different aromas, with Roman Chamomile having a sweeter, less penetrating scent.
Chamomile blossoms grown in the Egyptian countryside are eco-cultivated, steam distilled, and offer an intensely earthy fragrance.
Blue Chamomile Essential Oil has been described by aromatherapists as quelling inflammation and promoting healing and it’s a favorite oil for skin problems such as dry, red, irritated skin and flaky skin. Some aromatherapists will add a small amount of Blue Chamomile Essential Oil to inhalations intended for inflamed respiratory tracts. While Blue chamomile has been described by aromatherapists as exerting a calming effect, it is said to be less calming than Roman chamomile.

History
Chamomile herb has been in use since ancient times and has a very old history as a calming remedy, a skin care agent, and a remedy for menstrual cramps. It mixes well with Rosemary essential oil as a topical application that soothes joints and muscles.
In Chinese Medicine, both types of Chamomile are said to soothe the flow of Qi and this property is believed to help relieve or prevent spasms and ease pain, making it a comforting essential oil to apply during menstrual cramps or tension headaches. Blue Chamomile essential oil is also said in Chinese Medicine to excel at clearing heat, and this is one of the reasons it is valued in this traditional system for calming nerve pain as well as for skin care.
According to the principles of Chinese Medicine, Blue Chamomile can especially regulate the flow of Qi in the solar plexus, thus helping to relieve stress.
