Green Mandarin Essential Oil, Green
Mandarin Essential Oil Green (Citrus reticulata) from Italy is Therapeutic Quality Essential Oil produced from expression of the peel. Also know as “Mandarin Essential Oil”, “Mandarin Oil” and Mandarin Orange Essential Oil.
There are three types of Mandarin Orange Essential Oil: Mandarin Red, Mandarin Green and Mandarin Yellow and, we carry all three, Each of these Mandarins is harvested at a different stage of ripeness and the different color designations refer to the color of the peel or the fruit at the time of harvest. The peel (rind) of Green Mandarin Essential Oil is green when harvested. Because they are harvested at different stages of maturity, there are subtle differences between the chemical profiles and aromas of each type. We find all three Mandarin oils to have a cheerful, citrus aroma with only slight differences. In all cases, in our experiences with the Mandarin essential oils we have found them to have a soothing effect and we particularly like to blend them with Lavender when feeling a bit on edge. Your experiences may differ from ours and we’d love to hear about them. Let us know which variety is your favorite.
Green Mandarin Essential Oil Description
Mandarin Essential Oil Green has a clean, citrus aroma that is stronger and has more of a floral undertone than that of Red Mandarin and Yellow Mandarin. It is pale greenish in color and flows easily. For essential oil production, the fruit is harvested between late October and the end of November, before reaching maturity.
The soils and climate of Italy have been said to be especially well suited to producing Red, Yellow and Green Mandarin oranges that yield a very fine essential oil.

Some authors (e.g. Shirley and Len Price in their book Aromatherapy for Healthcare Professionals) have suggested that this essential oil MAY be phototoxic. A phototoxic essential oil is one that can cause severe sunburns if used on the skin less than 12 hours before exposure to the sun or tanning lamps. However, Tisserand and Young do NOT indicate that it is phototoxic in their book, Essential Oil Safety, 2nd Ed. (2014); They do state that spoiled samples may produce skin sensitization. We recommend that you store this essential oil in the refrigerator if you plan on keeping it more than 3 months. You should store ALL essential oils in a dark, air tight container away from heat, light and moisture. Follow all General Safety Guidelines as noted via the link below.
