Green Mandarin Essential Oil
Mandarin Essential Oil Green (Citrus reticulata) from Italy is therapeutic quality essential oil produced from expression of the peel. Red Mandarin comes from the fully ripened fruit, while Green Mandarin comes from fruit harvested prior to ripening. Even though the Green Mandarin essential oil is distilled from unripe fruit, Green Mandarin’s aroma and flavor is less sour or bitter than most other citrus oils.
There are three types of Mandarin Orange Essential Oil: Mandarin Red, Mandarin Green and Mandarin Yellow and, we carry all three. Each of these Mandarins is harvested at a different stage of ripeness and the different color designations refer to the color of the peel or the fruit at the time of harvest. The peel (rind) of Green Mandarin Essential Oil is green when harvested. Because they are harvested at different stages of maturity, there are subtle differences between the chemical profiles and aromas of each type. All three Mandarin oils to have a cheerful, citrus aroma with only slight differences.
Green Mandarin Essential Oil Description
Mandarin Essential Oil Green has a clean, citrus aroma that is stronger and has more of a floral undertone than that of Red Mandarin and Yellow Mandarin. It is pale greenish in color and flows easily. For essential oil production, the fruit is harvested between late October and the end of November, before reaching maturity.
The soils and climate of Italy have been said to be especially well suited to producing Red, Yellow and Green Mandarin oranges that yield a very fine essential oil.
