Green Mandarin Essential Oil
(Citrus reticulata)

Our exceptional Green Mandarin Essential Oil  comes from Italy. We love its fresh, tangy, citrus aroma and find it to have a wonderful floral undertone that adds body and depth to citrus accords and floral blends.  According to Patricia Davis, the essential oil of Mandarin Oranges is one of the primary essential oils chosen by aromatherapists for calming routine tummy upset.

There are three types of Mandarin Orange Essential Oil:  Mandarin Red, Mandarin Green and Mandarin Yellow. Each is harvested at a different stage of ripeness and the different color designations refer to the color of the peel or the fruit at the time of harvest. The peel (rind) of Green Mandarin Essential Oil is green when harvested. Because they are harvested at different stages of maturity, there are subtle differences between the chemical profiles and aromas of each type. We find all three Mandarin oils to have a cheerful, citrus aroma with only slight differences. In all cases, in our experiences with the Mandarin essential oils we have found them to have a soothing effect and we  particularly like to blend them with Lavender when feeling a bit on edge. Your experiences may differ from ours and we’d love to hear about them. Let us know which variety is your favorite.

Mandarin Essential Oil Green has a clean, citrus aroma that is stronger and has more of a floral undertone than that of Red Mandarin and Yellow Mandarin. It is pale greenish in color and flows easily. For essential oil production, the fruit is harvested between late October and the end of November, before reaching maturity.

The soils and climate of Italy have been said to be especially well suited to producing Red, Yellow and Green Mandarin oranges that yield a very fine essential oil.
